The One Thing You Need in Your Home Right Now!
It's green, it's alive, it needs water and maybe some music... It's a houseplant, and we all need this in our house, like yesterday.
If you are interested in your health it’s time to consider the health of your environment as well.
Everything we consume to the things we touch, to the air we breathe and things we see contribute to or detract from our health.
Besides the obvious visual beauty plants bring to a home, there are copious amounts of other benefits to having plants in your home. Here’s the short list, although I’m sure there are many many more.
Improves air quality
Reduces carbon dioxide
Increases humidity (anything to help this dry winter itchiness)
Reduces levels of certain pollutants, such as benzene and nitrogen dioxide
Reduces airborne dust levels
Keeps air temperatures down (great for sleeping)
Sense of accomplishment felt when the plant lives (proud mama)
So now you know. Go out to a local nursery and ask the specialist what would work best in your home. They are very knowledgeable and care about the plant's life as well, so they won’t steer you wrong. I suggest buying one plant to start so as not to get overwhelmed.
Some personal favorites of mine are:
Spider plant (my first plant to survive more than 2 months)
Snake plant
Pathos
Succulents
I offer these suggestions because of their beauty, air purifying properties, and ease of care.
Now that you have purified air in your home, take a deep breath.
