Green is the New Black

Updated: Jul 20, 2020

I LOVE nature. Trees, plants, flowers, grass and water. I love the smell and the feel and the sight. I try to bring as much of that beauty inside as possible ie. what I can keep alive. Seeing all the beautiful plants thriving in my care give me so much joy! Do you need some green in your life? Actually, let me tell you why do.

Besides the obvious visual beauty it brings to a home, there are copious amounts of other benefits to having plants indoors.

Here’s the short list, although i’m sure there are many many more.

  1. Improves air quality

  2. Reduces carbon dioxide

  3. Increases humidity (anything to help this dry winter itchiness)

  4. Reduces levels of certain pollutants, such as benzene and nitrogen dioxide

  5. Reduces airborne dust levels

  6. Keeps air temperatures down (great for sleeping)

  7. Sense of accomplishment felt when the plant lives (proud mama)

So now you know. Run out to a local nursery and ask the specialist what would work best in your home. Be sure to tell them where in the home you will be putting the plant and how much light it will get there. Also let them know how much work you are willing to put in. There is a plant for every level of commitment, I assure you! The nursery staff are very knowledgeable and care about the plants life as well, so they won’t steer you wrong. Good luck!

Tell me in the comments what plants are your favorite!
